Dr. Jane Goodall on Ngamba Island

The Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust was founded in Uganda in 1998 by Dr. Jane Goodall and a group of founding trustees.

Our mission is to promote chimpanzee conservation, and wildlife management for sustainable development.

The Sanctuary is home to 48 chimpanzees that have been rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. They live on 95 acres of natural forest habitat. The Chimpanzee Trust also works with the local communities in western Uganda and the neighboring islands on Lake Victoria.

We implement educational programs in schools, assist with developing alternative livelihood skills, and collaborate with the communities in protecting Uganda's precious biodiversity.

The Friends of CSWCT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 2010 to support the chimpanzees of Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Uganda, and to help protect chimpanzees worldwide. For more information, visit www.friendsofchimps.org.
